CGS

Where scent becomes emotion, and art becomes memory born from Gi-Seok Cho.

Brand Vision & Concept

The central concept of CGS is “Coexistence” — exploring dualities, boundaries, and the subtle interplay between opposites: dark/light, angel/demon, dream/reality.

The goal is to translate invisible existences (emotions, symbols, memories) into fragrance — “that leave a lingering trace beyond what is seen.”

CGS positions itself at the intersection of art, photography and perfumery — creating scents as sensory-visual statements rather than just lifestyle products. This links well with your Postdawn select-shop approach (story-driven, niche, value-emphasised).

Brand Origin & Founder

CGS was launched by Korean photographer and creative director Cho Gi‑Seok.

Official launch date: April 15, 2025.

The name “CGS” is derived from Cho Gi-Seok’s initials and creative identity, blending his background in image-making with fragrance.

Design & Packaging

The architecture of the bottles and caps is deliberate: for example, “Flower Study” features a matte-black magnolia-shaped cap; “Love & Hate” uses a sculptural torso with angel/demon wings motif. Hypebeast+1

The visual aesthetic is minimalist-artistic rather than mass-market; aligning the fragrance with collectible, visual-studio sensibility.

The brand’s website presents the product as “perfume, object, etc”, demonstrating an emphasis on design-object value.

Flower Study

A scent about “new beginning”. Citrus & white florals open; then cypress, musk, sandalwood, patchouli and vanilla complete the trail.

Bad Dream

Described as “drifting through a deep dream”. Spices (saffron, cinnamon, clove), tobacco smoke, rose & iris, tonka bean & vanilla.

Love and Hate

A scent of love entangled in innocence and desire”. Tea tree, pine, cardamom, coriander, rose, jasmine, agarwood, incense.

CGS (Coexistence by Cho Gi-Seok)

Founded in Seoul by photographer and creative director Cho Gi-Seok, CGS is a newly-launched perfume brand exploring the interplay of existence and memory through fragrance. The debut “Coexistence” collection presents three artistic scents — Flower Study, Bad Dream and Love & Hate — each encapsulating themes of new beginnings, dream states and emotional dualities. Designed as visual-objects as much as olfactory experiences, the bottles and caps reflect sculptural forms and the brand’s art-forward heritage. CGS is rooted in Korean creativity yet destined for a global audience. With its limited releases, high-quality extracts and rich narrative, CGS aligns with Postdawn’s curated ethos of introducing distinctive, design-driven Korean beauty and fragrance brands to the US market.
